The video below is one of the most stunning pieces of footage I’ve ever seen from the perspective of astronauts in space.  I imagine one of the wonders of being in space must be the total shift in perspective that has to come over those few lucky Humans who get to experience it.  Being able to close one eye and squish Earth between your fingers must be pretty humbling!

One thing in particular that disgusts me most about the current state of  our planet is the apparent lack of interest in science in general, but even more so, the lack of interest in space exploration.  People are so much more enamored with the Kardashians, Angelina Jolie, Justin Bieber, and Alex Rodriguez’s personal life than they are with advancements in space travel, the possibility of life on other planets, or the workings of the universe.

Viewership for mindless, intellectually devoid, cookie-cutter drivel is probably one-thousand times more than shows like Morgan Freeman’s: Through the Wormhole, Prophets of Science Fiction, or anything with Michio Kaku.
How did we become a nation, if not a world, bored with discovery?  Why are we more interested in numbing our minds than expanding them?  Why would more people tune into a new episode of Kardashian Root Canal before they would this…
