There’s just something undeniably intriguing about dark, gritty, almost hopeless science fiction films. Maybe it’s because they make us realize that no matter how far in the future it is, we will always be fundamentally the same. There won’t be any perfect world like in Star Trek. Shows like Firefly, and Babylon 5, as well as movies like Blade Runner, and Alien, speak to us because deep down we know that’s exactly how our future will be.
Atropa captures this same classic style of SciFi films from the 70s, and 80s, feeling right at home amongst any of them. The short starts off pretty standard, but the cliffhanger ending really drives home the need for this to be made into a full length film. I really, really want to know what is going on!
